Position OverviewOptigy is seeking a Board-Certified Emergency Medicine Physician for a locum opportunity in Jefferson, IA. This is a low-volume emergency department with approximately 3,000 annual visits (about 8 patients per day). The role offers flexible scheduling with 12-hour day and night shifts, and a streamlined credentialing process for clean files.
RequirementsActive Iowa medical license and DEA
Board Certified in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine (ABEM, ABFM, ABIM, or osteopathic equivalents)
If FM/IM boarded, must maintain ACLS, ATLS, and PALS certifications at all times
Must be willing to work both day and night shifts
Clean file required to qualify for temporary privileges
ResponsibilitiesProvide comprehensive emergency medical care in a rural, community-based environment
Evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute illnesses and injuries across all age groups
Work independently as the sole physician on duty (no APP coverage)
Maintain accurate documentation and participate in high-quality, evidence-based care delivery
Communicate effectively with nursing staff and other healthcare team members
