Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg unit at a Level I Trauma hospital, requiring at least two years of recent Med/Surg and travel nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Position is in the Medical Surgical unit of a large, short-term acute care hospital
• Level I Trauma Center setting utilizing a team nursing model
• Patient ratio is typically 1:6 or 1:7
• Night shifts, four 12-hour shifts per week (4x12), 19:00–07:00
• On-call and weekend shifts required as needed
• Floating may occur between like units and campuses within a 20-mile radius, but is rare between campuses
• Cerner EMR used; experience preferred
• Responsible for delivering direct patient care to Med/Surg populations in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
• Must be able to work as part of an interdisciplinary team using the team nursing model
• Holiday coverage required: must be willing to work 2 of 3 major holidays if they occur during the assignment (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• All requested time off must be included at the time of application; additional requests will not be approved
• Vaccination status documentation required for consideration

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required, no pending licensure accepted
• Minimum of 2 years of recent Med/Surg nursing experience; 3 years preferred
• Travel experience required, including completion of at least one previous travel assignment
• Prior experience in large hospital and Level I Trauma setting required
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or higher required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
• Candidates must live at least 100 miles from the facility; locals not accepted
• Former staff must be separated from employment for one year to be eligible
