Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position in a Level I Trauma hospital, requiring a TN or compact license and prior travel experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a large hospital's Medical Surgical unit with a team nursing approach
• Patient ratio is typically 1:6 to 1:7
• Level I Trauma Center environment with short-term acute care
• Day shifts (3x12 hours), 7:00 to 19:00
• Schedule may require as-needed weekends and on-call shifts
• Floating may be required between similar units and occasionally between campuses within 20 miles
• Uses Cerner EMR, Cerner experience preferred
• Responsibilities include providing care to a diverse Med/Surg patient population in a fast-paced trauma setting
• Team nursing model fosters collaborative work with other RNs and support staff
• Travelers may be required to work up to two out of three major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year) if assignment overlaps
• No block schedules are allowed, though weekend block may be considered
• Scrub requirements and orientation details will be communicated prior to start

Requirements

• Active RN license in TN or compact state, no pending licensure accepted
• Minimum of 2 years Med/Surg nursing experience in a large hospital required
• Prior Level I Trauma Center experience is required
• Previous travel assignment experience is required; first-time travelers will not be considered
• ADN or higher required for this position
• Must be in compliance with NLC guidelines
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
• Must live more than 100 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
• All required time off must be disclosed prior to consideration
• Returning employees must have a 1-year separation before being eligible to return
