Overview:
Are you a PM&R physician looking for a fulfilling role with a flexible schedule and strong growth potential? We re hiring a Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) specialist to join a collaborative team in the Knoxville, TN area. This position focuses on improving patients functional outcomes in a supportive acute rehab environment, working alongside primary care providers, therapists, and nursing teams.
Position Details:
Location: Knoxville, TN (ideal for candidates near Asbury, Rockford, Louisville, or Amherst)
Setting: Acute inpatient rehabilitation facility with state-of-the-art equipment
Schedule: Customize your own weekday schedule; no primary night call
Role Type: Consultant PM&R physician (not primary attending)
Patient Focus: Neurological, orthopedic, spinal cord injury, stroke, and general rehab
Key Responsibilities:
Provide rehab-focused consultations and guide care plans
Treat pain and spasticity affecting function
Prescribe adaptive devices and mobility solutions
Reduce opioid use via alternative treatments and interventions
Perform on-site joint and trigger point injections
Educate staff on rehab goals and strategies
Collaborate with therapy teams and primary care clinicians to optimize recovery
Qualifications:
MD or DO with board certification or eligibility in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
Active Tennessee medical license (or ability to obtain)
Strong interest in inpatient rehab, interdisciplinary care, and functional outcomes
Previous post-acute or rehab experience preferred but not required
