Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU night shift role requiring a NC or compact RN license and CVICU experience.

Responsibilities

• Work setting is a 22-bed Cardiovascular ICU within an academic Level 1 trauma center
• Care for surgical and medical cardiac critical care patients, including post-CABG, valve replacements, Impella, IABP management, and thoracic aortic aneurysms
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2
• Requires 12-hour night shifts from 1830 to 0700
• Weekend rotation is required every other weekend
• Travelers will work 75% of holidays
• Floating required within other critical care departments; ratios are PCU 1:3 and MS 1:4
• Uses Epic EMR (experience preferred), Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell, Phillips monitors, and CRRT (NxStage)
• No on-call responsibilities
• High acuity, fast-paced unit in an academic teaching hospital
• Team includes 24/7 intensivist and RT, CNA assistance with ADLs, and dedicated charge nurse support
• Phlebotomy is performed by nurses
• New employee orientation consists of one week general plus 2-3 days departmental
• Scrub color for RNs is royal blue
• RTO must be approved by Nurse Manager
• First-time travelers are considered if they have sufficient CVICU experience
• Parking available in employee lot

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Minimum 1 year recent CVICU experience required
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• CCRN certification preferred
• Experience with post-cardiac assessment and circulatory support devices (IABP, Impella, LVAD, ECMO) required
• Skilled in titration of vasoactive and antiarrhythmic medications, interpretation of cardiac waveforms, and hemodynamic monitoring
• Epic EMR experience preferred
