The Sales Manager leads and develops a sales team to achieve regional and territorial sales goals while collaborating with marketing to identify new customer segments and maintain brand consistency. Responsibilities include forecasting sales, managing budgets, recruiting and training staff, and overseeing sales operations across multiple locations. The role requires strong leadership, strategic planning, and communication skills, preferably with experience in the building materials or construction industry.
Position Summary
The primary function of the Sales Manager is to lead and guide the sales team by developing training programs, setting strategic direction, and driving performance across multiple locations. This role focuses on helping team members exceed short- and long-term sales targets while working closely with the marketing department to identify new customer segments, strengthen product knowledge, and maintain a cohesive brand image.
Duties & Responsibilities
Establish sales objectives by forecasting and developing annual sales quotas for regions and territories
Project expected sales volume and profit for existing and new products
Ensure execution of developed sales strategies, plans, and advertising or promotional programs
Maintain sales volume, product mix, and pricing by monitoring supply and demand, market trends, economic indicators, and competitor activity
Maintain contact with key markets by visiting locations and assessing local conditions and operations
Manage sales generation across districts and major accounts within a large geographic area
Develop, forecast, and monitor budgets while effectively utilizing operational resources
Recruit, select, train, and develop sales staff
Maintain professional and technical knowledge through workshops, professional publications, networking, and participation in professional organizations
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Business
Minimum of five years of related experience
Demonstrated knowledge of the building materials or construction industry preferred
