Hematology/Oncology Physician

Join our esteemed healthcare team as a Hematology/Oncology Physician and make a meaningful impact in cancer care. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic inpatient setting, supporting patients through complex malignant hematology and oncology cases. You will deliver specialized treatment at prominent facilities, including Abbott Northwestern and Allina Health Cancer Institute in Minneapolis, playing a vital role in multidisciplinary teams dedicated to advancing patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities include providing inpatient care, managing malignant hematology cases, participating in on-call duties as needed, and supporting infusion services. The role ensures collaborative interactions with supportive APP staff during weekday shifts, with provisions for emergency privileges to facilitate swift, quality care delivery.

Required Skills:

• Board-certified in Hematology and Oncology
• Valid Minnesota medical license (or IMLC accepted)
• Demonstrated proficiency in malignant hematology and medical oncology
• Active DEA certification
• BLS certification
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical experience
• Ability to perform or assist with specialized procedures in malignant hematology
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred

Nice to Have Skills:

• Experience with inpatient oncology/hematology cases
• Prior involvement in infusion therapy and supportive care protocols
• Ability to handle high patient volumes (30-40 patients/day shared among providers)
• Willingness to commit to a 3-6 month contract with potential for extension or permanent placement considerations
• Capacity to manage both inpatient and call responsibilities efficiently

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
• At least two years of postgraduate practice in hematology and oncology settings

Other Requirements:

• Must have MN medical license or be eligible for IMLC licensing
• Successful credentialing within approximately 90 days (or up to 120 days if licensing is pending)
• Ability to obtain emergency privileges with a clean background
• Shift hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with on-call duties as needed
• Work schedule includes inpatient days, with no dedicated APP support during weekends or after hours
