Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Emergency Department position requiring 5 years of ED experience and a compact or NM RN license.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Emergency Department of an acute care hospital
- 5-bed ER unit with 2 trauma bays and average daily census of 40-50 patients
- Nurse to patient ratio of 1:3
- Shifts are 12 hours, nights, with every other weekend required
- No call or floating duties required
- Community hospital currently working towards Level IV trauma designation
- CPSI charting system is used
- Cares for patients ranging from minor injuries to major traumas, including crush injuries, burns, and traumatic amputations
- Must complete approximately 20 hours of required modules prior to starting on the unit
- One to two days of unit-specific orientation with a preceptor is provided
- Security is onsite 24/7, and the unit is supported by an ED physician at all times
- Must wear navy blue scrubs; jackets allowed if they do not have a hood
- Holiday rotation may be required
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
Requirements
- Active NM or compact state RN license required
- Minimum of 5 years recent Emergency Department experience required
- Certifications needed: BLS (AHA), ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC, NRP, NIHSS
- Must be able to mix and titrate critical drips such as Amiodarone, Cardizem, Epinephrine, and Insulin
- Ability to read and interpret telemetry and EKG strips
- Previous Level 1 or 2 trauma ED experience is accepted
