Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Cardiovascular Unit Med Surg position requiring a TN or compact RN license and experience with cardiac and neuro stepdown patients.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Cardiovascular Unit of a hospital
• Unit serves cardiac and neuro stepdown patients including bedside monitoring, cardiac drips, TR bands, post heart caths, stroke and neuro cases, and BIPAP overflow
• Unit has a capacity of 36 beds
• Patient population includes adults ages 18 to 60+
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6
• Variable staffing grid with RNs, LPNs, PCTs, and NIs, with RN responsible for assigned patients
• Night shift schedule, 18:45-07:15
• Travelers may be required to float between units or facilities within a 35-mile radius
• Travelers notified in advance if floating is required
• RNs will assume full responsibility for assigned patients within a team
• No COVID vaccination requirement as of July 1, 2023
• Local candidates are accepted but receive a reduced rate per radius rule; mileage varies by state
• Holiday and weekend shifts may be required based on assignment needs
• Candidates must provide two separate references
• Scrub or dress code requirements not specified

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required
• Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
• Nursys verification and current license must be completed within 30 days prior to start
• Must provide a US Social Security Number and US address (no international addresses accepted)
• Copy of driver’s license required for consideration
