American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level II ICU position requiring a NE or compact RN license and strong critical care skills.
Responsibilities- Position is in a 33-bed Intensive Care Unit within an acute care hospital setting
- Average daily census is 16 patients with nurse to patient ratios of 1:2-3 for adults
- Patient population includes trauma, cardiac, overdose, adult sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress cases
- RNs are required to titrate cardiac, insulin, and sedation drips
- Use of ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, high flow, and related respiratory equipment; responsibility extends from nasal cannula to vent care
- Monitors and interprets telemetry strips using GE monitors; tele tech oversight is provided
- Epic EMR is used; prior experience is preferred
- Shift is 12-hour days running 0630-1830, with every other weekend required
- Floating may occur to PCU and occasionally to MedSurg, with typical ratios maintained
- One shift of unit-specific orientation is provided
- Minimum of two holidays within the contract must be covered
- Responsibilities include managing titratable drips and interpreting cardiac and telemetry data
- RNs may assist with respiratory equipment and vent care as needed
- Healthcare support tech available three days per week and nurse aides are provided based on census
- Self-scheduling available for core staff, travelers are added to schedule without block scheduling guarantee
- Blocked schedules only considered for weekend-only requests
- Maximum of 7 days requested time off permitted per 13-week contract, with all requests submitted upfront
- Returning candidates must not have been employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year
- Current NE or compact RN license in hand; pending licenses are not accepted
- Minimum of 2 years of recent ICU RN experience required
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS, all active at time of consideration
- Must provide a driver’s license to verify residence is more than 50 miles from facility
- References required: one supervisor reference from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
- Must pass a skills exam during orientation with a score of at least 90%
- Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas
