American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department/Med-Surg position requiring 3 years of ER and Med-Surg experience and ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications.
Responsibilities- Work in a Critical Access Hospital with a combined Emergency Department and Med-Surg unit
- Acute care setting with 10 patient rooms, averaging 4 patients per day
- Patients include med/surg, outpatient, and emergency department cases
- Nurse-to-patient ratio averages 1:2 or 1:3, with a maximum of 1:6
- Equipment includes EPIC EMR, Philips central monitor/telemetry, and Lifepak 15
- Nights, 12-hour shifts with every other weekend required
- Floating daily between med/surg, outpatient, and emergency department as part of minimum staffing of 2 RNs and typically a PCT or LPN
- Orientation tailored to traveler needs, including day and night shadow shifts
- RNs are expected to be able to work in the ER and cover as charge nurse when needed
- RNs perform procedures such as IV starts and foley catheter insertion
- Team structure includes 2 RNs with support from a PCT or LPN
- Navy scrubs required
- Travelers who previously worked for Sanford Health must have an employment gap of at least 6 months prior to consideration
- Local candidates within 80 miles are accepted but are eligible for a pay adjustment
- Active SD or Compact RN license
- Minimum 3 years of RN experience, including at least 2 years in ER and 2 years in Med-Surg
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC
- EPIC EMR experience preferred
- Critical Access Hospital experience preferred but not required
