Job DescriptionThe Intermediate Care Unit (IMU) provides nursing care for patients requiring intermediate care acuity. The unit typically sees patients with diagnoses such as chest pain, heart failure, arrhythmias, and those post-cardiac procedures.
Responsibilities- Monitor and care for patients with a ratio goal of 1:4, often running 1:5.
- Administer medications and titrate drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dopamine, and others.
- Read and interpret telemetry strips, with support from Tele Techs.
- Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, including in-house Hospitalists and Intensivists.
- Assist with IV starts and manage patient care alongside an IV team present 24/7.
- Participate in floating to other units as needed, including Telemetry or MedSurg.
- Current RN licensure.
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
- Ability to work a minimum of 3 night shifts if working straight days.
