The Thoracic Surgeon performs complex cardiothoracic surgeries including coronary revascularization, heart valve repairs, and aneurysm repairs in a high-acuity adult and geriatric population at a Level I Trauma Center. The role involves a shared call rotation and utilizes modern EMR systems for efficient documentation. Candidates must be board certified and licensed with relevant life support certifications.
Schedule & Call
- Monday Friday: 6:45 a.m. 5:00 p.m.
- Night & weekend call: Approximately 7 8 call shifts per month
- Call rotation: Shared among 3 providers
- Level I Trauma Center
- Approx. 2 surgical cases per day
- High-acuity adult and geriatric population
- Robust ancillary and surgical support teams
- Modern EMR for streamlined documentation
- Redo coronary revascularization
- Arterial revascularization (IMA, radial, gastroepiploic)
- Heart valve repair and replacement
- Mitral valve repair
- Thoracic and descending aortic aneurysm repair
- CoreValve procedures
- Tube thoracostomy
- Pericardial window
- Board Certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon
- Active Connecticut medical license
- BLS & ACLS certification
