American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med Surg/Telemetry night position in Iowa, requiring recent travel experience and strong EKG interpretation skills.
Responsibilities- Work in a hospital Med Surg/Telemetry unit with 25 beds
- Night shift, 4x12 hour shifts per week (48 hours/week)
- Patient ratio of 1:5-6
- Telemetry tech monitoring unit with patients requiring drips such as heparin, insulin, diuretics, amiodarone, diltiazem, and 3% saline infusion
- No on-call requirement
- Must work every other weekend and participate in a holiday rotation
- Epic EMR is used; prior Epic experience required
- Floating required across Med Surg units, including post-op, and may include BH (Behavioral Health), ED, and ICU
- Provide comprehensive care and monitoring to Med Surg/Tele patients, including those with complex drips and telemetry needs
- Active participation in interdisciplinary team
- Orientation includes 16 hours of on-boarding
- Required to work 2 out of 3 major winter holidays (Christmas, New Year's, Thanksgiving)
- Time off requests are limited to one day during peak holiday periods
- First time travelers will not be considered
- Candidates previously employed by the client in the past 12 months may be ineligible
- Professional dress code; scrubs required
- Active IA RN license or compact RN license required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications from AHA
- Minimum 2 years recent Med Surg or Med/Tele experience required
- Prior completion of at least one travel assignment within the last 12 months is mandatory
- Post-op surgical experience strongly encouraged (e.g., EGD, colonoscopy, cardiac cath, pacemaker, minor surgery)
- Ability to confidently read EKG/ECG and perform all related telemetry responsibilities, including rhythm strips and dysrhythmia interpretation
- Experience with administering and titrating drips: heparin, insulin, diuretics, amiodarone, diltiazem, and 3% saline
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (no locals)
