The EMT at Arrow Champaign responds to emergency and non-emergency ambulance calls, providing immediate patient care and managing transport. Responsibilities include ambulance readiness checks, patient assessment and treatment, and ambulance and equipment cleaning. Candidates must hold an EMT license and relevant certifications, with experience in EMS systems and patient care under paramedic supervision.

Compensation and Benefits
The compensation range for this position is $16.21per hour - $26.26per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model. CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
Emergency Medical Tech (EMT) License Illinois upon hire and Driver's License upon hire and National Incident Mgmt System (NIMS) 100 within 6 months and National Incident Mgmt System (NIMS) 200 within 6 months and National Incident Mgmt System (NIMS) 700 within 6 months and National Incident Mgmt System (NIMS) 800 within 6 months and Hazardous Materials Awareness Certification within 6 months and Emergency Response to Terrorism (ERT) Certification within 6 months and
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Two (2) years driving experience
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
A working knowledge of the EMS system. Ability to work under the direction of a paramedic in a patient care setting. Prior to functioning as a licensed EMS provider, applicants must test into the Carle Regional EMS System, which may include a written exam and a skills assessment. A letter of good standing from the most recent EMS system worked must also be provided. In cases where an individual does not have prior EMS experience, the letter requirement will be waived.
Responsibilities
- Responds to emergency calls to provide efficient and immediate care to the ill and injured.
- Checks and monitors ambulance readiness.
- Clearly communicates crew and vehicle position at all times
- Cleans ambulances, utility vehicles, and crews quarters daily.
- Provides direction to EMT's while on ambulance calls.
- Transports patients in wheel chair van when needed.
- Manages care of patients during transport to the hospital.
- Assess blood glucose and provide treatment if necessary
- Performs CPR and uses an AED
- Controls hemorrhage. Applies bandages and dressings.
- Assess for breathing difficulties and applies oxygen when needed.
