Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Oncology unit requiring a TX or compact license, Epic experience, and at least 2 years of recent Med/Surg experience.
Responsibilities
- Position is on a general medical-surgical and oncology/hematology unit with telemetry capability
- Unit includes 36 private rooms split between med-surg and oncology patients
- Patient population consists of young adult to geriatric oncology, hematology, and general med/surg overflow
- Patient ratio is typically 1:6
- Must be able to float to other units as needed
- Day shifts are 3x12 hours, 7:00–19:00
- Required to work weekends for half of the contract
- Epic charting system is used
- Responsibilities include managing a varied med-surg, oncology, and hematology patient caseload with telemetry monitoring
- No travel pairs or group travelers permitted
- A maximum of 3 days of requested time off (RTO) will be auto-approved; no RTO allowed during the first week of orientation
- Scrub or dress code requirements not specified
Requirements
- Active TX or compact state RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years recent Med/Surg nursing experience required
- BLS certification required
- Epic experience required
- NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred
- Applicants must not reside within 50 miles of the facility or in specified local counties
- No first-time travelers will be considered
- Former permanent staff must have been gone for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
