About the Clinician's WorkdayThis 24-hour shift role involves all aspects of adult cardiac and thoracic surgery, including CABG, valve surgery, thoracic aorta, and pulmonary resections, with vascular experience preferred but not required. The position is supported by six Physician Assistants who first assist in surgery, share call responsibilities, and manage hospital rounds and consults, along with three APRNs who staff the clinic Monday through Thursday to ensure comprehensive inpatient and outpatient coverage. The inpatient census typically ranges from 2540 patients, occasionally reaching 50, with each surgeon performing an average of 24 OR cases per day. Candidates must be Board Certified in Thoracic Surgery (ABTS) with BLS, ATLS, and ACLS certifications. EPIC is used for documentation, and the credentialing process takes approximately 120 days.
