Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN for a day shift position requiring strong cardiac OR competency and the ability to scrub across multiple service lines at a Magnet-designated acute care hospital.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Operating Room of an acute care Magnet-designated hospital
• Shift is 4x10 hour days, 06:45-17:15
• Call is required, with call shifts on weeknights and weekends varying by schedule
• May float within the hospital and between affiliated campus locations as needed
• Patient population includes endovascular/hybrid, neuro-spine, ENT, ortho, and robotic cases
• Must be able to independently scrub and circulate multiple service lines
• Epic EMR system is used and prior experience is preferred
• Navy scrubs are required
• Responsible for circulating and scrubbing in a wide variety of surgical procedures with an emphasis on cardiac cases
• Expected to be independent after a short orientation tailored to surgeon preferences
• May be required to float to nearby affiliate campuses; call will only be at the main campus
• Facial hair must allow for fit mask testing per hospital policies
• No more than 7 days of requested time off allowed during a 13-week contract; no time off allowed first week
• Parking is free at the facility
• Every other weekend call may be required
• Travel assignments limited to 18 months with 3-month break required before returning

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required at time of consideration (Illinois is not a compact state)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Operating Room RN experience
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Experience with Epic charting system preferred
• Must demonstrate strong cardiac OR competency and ability to quickly work independently
• Must be able to both scrub and circulate for multiple specialties
• No local candidates within a 75 mile radius
• First-time travelers may be considered
• Permanent former staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler to this system
