Position Description:
10am - 6:30pm HT(ASCP) certified.
- Prepare, process, embed, cut, coverslip, stain and mount tissue specimens for evaluation and examination by the pathologist.
- Perform special staining procedures, including IHC on tissue and quality control slides as requested.
- Accession specimens for Pathology and Cytology in the computer. Communicate with appropriate provider regarding specimen problems.
- Prepare GYN and Non-GYN cytology specimens and order molecular studies. Perform routine maintenance of equipment and instruments and keep appropriate records. Maintain inventory, communicate ordering needs to Clinical Specialist. Maintain work area in a clean and safe manner.
- Attend laboratory meetings, in-service education meetings and educational seminars as requested.
- Pick up specimens regularly from all areas of hospital. Perform frozen sections.
- Train both new employees and intern staff in assigned area of expertise. Dispose of specimens in correct manner.
- Dispose of hazardous chemicals in a safe and appropriate manner.
NO local travelers will be accepted (cannot reside within 50 mi from the facility) Start date: ASAP starts, at least 4 weeks out for compliance Orientation is weekly (every Monday barring a holiday) NM to interview and offer Please provide dates and times available for interview at time of submission ALL RTO REQUESTS MUST BE PRESENTED AT TIME OF SUB Travelers who have worked for Beth Israel Lahey Health as travel, perm or per diem within the last six months will not be accepted - MUST be separated from facility for six months to be considered
