American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a night shift position requiring a compact or WV RN license, ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.
Responsibilities- Work in a 20-bed ICU at an acute care facility
- Patient population includes medical ICU, surgical ICU, neuro, cardiac, and stepdown overflow
- Average daily census is 16-17 patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:1-2 in ICU and 1:3 for stepdown patients
- Uses EPIC for electronic medical records and Phillips cardiac monitoring equipment
- Night shifts are 12 hours, 7pm to 7:30am
- Every other weekend coverage required; holidays may be scheduled as needed
- Travelers typically do not float outside the ICU
- Orientation includes one day of general hospital orientation and 1-2 shifts with a preceptor
- Provide care for critically ill adults, including post-cath lab and balloon pump patients
- Work closely with dedicated charge nurse, in-house RT 24/7, and onsite pharmacy
- No open-heart or CRRT patients; some cardiac and neuro cases included
- Navy blue scrubs required with specific color guidelines for jackets and undershirts
- Support from nurse aides, capstone students, and nurse externs assigned to staff
- First-day general orientation followed by unit-specific training
- No local travelers accepted within 50 miles radius
- Holiday assignments are minimized for travelers when possible
- Travelers are not allowed to remain within WVU system for more than 1 year without a 2-year break
- Active WV or compact RN license
- Minimum of 2 years recent ICU experience
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; PALS required; TNCC preferred
- Experience with Epic EMR preferred
- Must live more than 50 miles from the facility
- COVID-19 vaccination required; medical or religious exemptions considered
- Must pass EKG testing as part of onboarding
- Cannot have worked as a staff or traveler at any WVU facility in the past 2 years
