Job DescriptionThe Registered Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients with respiratory issues. The role includes performing patient assessments, establishing care plans, and collaborating with the healthcare team. The therapist will manage and monitor mechanical ventilators, provide education to patients and families, and perform various therapeutic modalities.
Responsibilities- Perform and document thorough patient assessments.
- Establish appropriate care plans and communicate with the healthcare team.
- Administer aerosolized medications, perform secretion management, and provide oxygen therapy.
- Initiate and manage mechanical ventilators according to protocols.
- Educate patients and families on disease management.
- Assist in intra-hospital transport of ventilated patients.
- Manage acute airway emergencies and perform arterial blood gas sampling.
- Adhere to regulatory and safety standards and maintain the confidentiality of patient information.
- Function as a Shift Coordinator when designated and assist in clinical procedures.
- Act as a preceptor for orientees and students in clinical rotations.
- More than 2 years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
- Graduate from a Specialty Training Program.
- Current Registered Respiratory Therapist license from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
