Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring at least 18 months of recent Med/Tele experience and a NC or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital Med/Surg Tele unit with 10 beds and an average census of 8 patients
• Patient population includes cases such as chest pain, syncope, and angina
• Typical RN to patient ratio is 1:5 and CNA to patient ratio is 1:10
• Unit utilizes Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell med dispensing systems
• 12-hour day shifts from 0700-1900, with every other weekend required
• Travelers are required to work 75% of holidays
• Floating required within Region 1 to designated facilities and within scope of practice
• No on-call or call-back required
• Provide comprehensive care to adult Med/Surg Tele patients, including medication administration, monitor cardiac rhythms, and manage chest tubes and drains
• Work as part of a collaborative team supported by supervisors, charge RN, resource RN, and additional services such as RT and IV/VAT teams
• Department fosters a positive work culture with team-building activities and inclusive environment
• Two-day department-specific orientation provided in addition to general orientation
• Navy scrubs are required
• Up to 6 days of RTO can be approved excluding holidays; additional days require contract extension to meet hours
• Free employee parking is available
• First-time travelers may be considered but prior traveler experience is preferred

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Tele RN experience required
• Proficiency with cardiac rhythm interpretation, stroke experience, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube and drain management, NGT placement, and foley management
• Experience with cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, and IV fluids administration
• Experience using Epic EMR preferred
• Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the unit
