American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care Unit (IMC) position with telemetry and cardiac care responsibilities, requiring a TX or compact RN license and at least 2 years of recent experience.
Responsibilities- Work in the Intermediate Care Unit (IMC) within a hospital setting
- Schedule consists of 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 to 19:00
- Patient ratio is 1:4
- Patient population includes post-cardiac angiogram, post-MI, pre/post cardiac cath, pre/post cardiac surgery, renal failure, CVA, and patients requiring telemetry monitoring
- Required to float to units of equal or lesser acuity as needed
- Weekend shifts are assigned for half of scheduled shifts
- Utilizes the Epic EMR system, with prior Epic experience preferred
- Telemetry monitoring is performed on the unit
- Duties include central line and PICC management, starting IVs, blood product administration, feeding tube care, wound care, isolation precautions, and oxygen therapies (HFNC, nasal cannula, face masks)
- Management of hemodialysis and ports as part of routine care
- No local candidates accepted from specific counties or within a 50-mile radius
- Applicants who were former permanent staff must have a one-year separation before returning as a traveler
- No more than 3 days of requested time off (RTO) will be auto-approved and RTO is not permitted during the first week of orientation
- First-time travelers are not considered for this position
- Scrub color requirement is dark grey or pewter
- No travel pairs or groups accepted
- Active TX or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum of 2 years of recent IMC, PCU, or Stepdown nursing experience required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory
- Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation, cardiac drips (no titration), rapid response, IV insulin protocols, titration of insulin drips, and management of cardiac and renal patients required
- Prior experience with Epic documentation preferred
