Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med Surg admissions unit position requiring Level I trauma and EPIC experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 15-bed Med Surg admissions unit within an acute care hospital
• Patients are initially admitted from the ER and cared for until transferred to a specific unit
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 5:1 on days and 6:1 on nights
• Utilizes Epic EMR, Zebra phones for communication, Omnicell for medications, and Aleris IV pumps
• 12-hour rotating day/night shifts with every other weekend and holiday required
• No on-call required
• Floating to other medical/surgical units as needed
• Dress code is navy blue scrubs
• Provide initial admission assessments and ongoing care for patients awaiting unit assignment
• Work in a busy, fast-paced environment with a collaborative medical/surgical team
• Navy blue scrubs required per dress code
• Must be able to manage rapidly changing patient needs and prioritize care
• Orientation consists of 8 hours of unit-specific training
• Holiday coverage is required as assigned
• Candidates with prior employment at Sanford Health must disclose this for consideration
• Local travel rate applies for those living 60–80 miles from the facility

Requirements

• Active ND or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification from AHA
• Minimum 2 years of medical/surgical nursing experience
• Prior experience in a Level I trauma center required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible
