This position seeks a Neonatology Physician to provide locum coverage for a Level III NICU in Redding, CA, including daily rounding and call coverage with a 30-minute hospital response time. The role involves managing critically ill neonates with advanced respiratory support, invasive procedures, and nutrition management. Candidates must be board certified or eligible, licensed in California, and have required certifications including BLS, NRP, and DEA, with experience specific to neonatology services.

- Consistent Schedule: Provide coverage for 10 consecutive days (the 11th through the 20th, ending 21st AM) of every month, ongoing.
- NICU Acuity: Coverage is for a Level III NICU with a daily patient census of 7 12 neonates.
- Supportive Environment: Collaborate with NICU nurses, Laborists, and Pediatric Hospitalists. You will supervise Family Practice Residents during their Nursery rotation. No APP support.
- EMR: The facility uses Cerner Care B.
- Privileging: Can be credentialed in as little as 30 days if eligible for temporary privileges.
- Rounding: Round in the NICU at least once per day. No rounding in the nursery (Peds Hospitalists handle the nursery).
- Call Coverage: Cover calls from nursing staff and come to the hospital as patient condition requires (30-minute response time implied).
- Required Procedures/Conditions: Manage complex neonates requiring or presenting with:
- Advanced Respiratory Support: ETT CPAP, Nasal CPAP (>4 hours, >6 cm H2O, FiO2 >0.60), Surfactant Administration.
- Critical Care: Administration of cardiac pressors, Peripheral/Central Line placement, Chest tube placement.
- High-Risk Neonates: Gestational Age
- Other: Total Parenteral Nutrition (Hyperalimentation), Exchange Transfusion.
- Board Status: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neonatal/Perinatal Medicine is REQUIRED.
- Licensure: Active State License (CA preferred) and Active Staff Membership at a TJC accredited facility with unrestricted privileges (not currently working as a locum).
- Substantial Experience: Must have substantial recent experience covering neonatology services (not pediatrics).
- Certifications: Active BLS, NRP, and DEA are REQUIRED.
- State Program: Provider must be listed as a paneled member of California Children Services (CCS) at the time of submission.
- Malpractice: Clean Malpractice History is REQUIRED.
- Availability: Availability for the required dates (11th 20th of every month) must be noted at the time of name clear.
