American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool position in Kansas, requiring a compact or KS RN license and MS-Tele experience.
Responsibilities- Work in an acute care hospital setting within a Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool
- Float to multiple units including General MS-Tele, Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, Rehab, Renal, Bariatrics, Ortho, Trauma, and ED Observation
- Adult to geriatric patient populations with diverse diagnoses such as post-surgical, cardiac, neuro, psych/detox, renal, and more
- Nurse-to-patient ratios typically 1:5-6 depending on acuity
- Night shifts, 12 hours, with 6-9 weekend shifts in a 6 week schedule
- Travelers are expected to float throughout designated Zone 4 within a 60-mile radius
- Use of Epic EMR is required, with Alaris equipment preferred
- May be required to handle heparin drip titration
- Floating may include units of varying acuity such as ICU (for low acuity holds), PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele
- Provide comprehensive care and assessments to adult and geriatric patients across a broad range of medical and surgical specialties
- Travelers are expected to be flexible and fill in scheduling gaps
- RT equipment such as vents, CPAP, and BiPAP are used on the unit
- Monitor techs are present; RNs may be required to interpret strips
- Designated charge nurse on each unit typically does not take a patient assignment except as necessary
- Nurse aids support the unit
- Holiday rotation and participation may be required
- All time off requests must be submitted prior to assignment start
- Travelers must be available in-state for orientation week, even if some modules are remote
- Scrub requirements are not specified
- Active KS or Compact RN license in hand; pending licenses not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of recent MS-Tele experience within the last 3 years
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Experience with Epic EMR preferred
- Experience with Alaris IV equipment preferred
- Must submit a copy of a valid Driver's License
- Two professional references required: one from a supervisor within the last 12 months, and one from a peer or supervisor within the last 3 years
- Must reside more than 60 miles from the float zone city center per radius policy
- No current or recent (within last 12 months) direct employment with facilities associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity
