Travel Nurse Job Details

• Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN)
• Unit: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
• Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), including weekdays and weekends
• Hours per Week: 36
• Contract Length: 13 weeks (option to extend)
• Start Date: 12/1/2025
• Patient Ratio: 1:2 (varies by acuity)
• Charting System: Cerner EMR
• Orientation: 24 hours plus online modules prior to start
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1,680 - $1,730

CVICU RN Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU or critical care RN experience
• Active West Virginia or Compact State RN license (pending license considered)
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (American Heart Association)
• Proficient in fresh open-heart admissions, pressure monitoring, Swan-Ganz, Impella, and CRRT
• Experience with ACT (Activated Clotting Time) monitoring
• Ability to float to Medical ICU or Step Down Unit as needed
• Must reside at least 100 miles from facility (75-100 miles considered case-by-case)
• Two recent manager or charge nurse references (within past 2 years)
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)

Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver specialized nursing care for post-cardiac surgery patients, including direct OR admissions
• Monitor and manage Swan-Ganz catheters, Impella devices, and CRRT
• Perform arterial line management, assist with chest tube procedures, and manage central/PICC lines
• Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Interpret arterial blood gases and cardiac dysrhythmias
• Care for ventilated patients and those requiring advanced cardiac support
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, PT, RT, pharmacy, etc.)
• Document patient care and assessments accurately in Cerner EMR
• Maintain infection prevention protocols and provide patient/family education
