American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring two years of recent specialty experience and the ability to float within a regional hospital system.
Responsibilities- Position based in a large teaching hospital with Level I Trauma designation and Magnet recognition
- Work on a 36-bed Med/Surg Tele unit caring for patients with renal, urologic, gastrointestinal, and surgical trauma conditions
- Patient ratios typically 1:4-6; may increase to 1:7-8 during surge staffing
- Night shift schedule from 1900 to 0700
- Weekend rotation required every other weekend
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays
- No call or on-call responsibilities for travelers
- Floating required within Region 2 facilities, including Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, and Central Division hospitals, within scope of practice
- EMR system is Epic; experience preferred
- Duties include care for diverse patient populations, including those with bladder and renal cancers, liver failure, trauma injuries, and transplant patients
- No telemetry monitoring technician; nurses must read monitors and respond
- Support staff includes CNAs, receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, respiratory therapist, hospitalist, and intensivist available 24/7
- Orientation includes facility onboarding plus 2 days of department training
- Scrub color is navy
- Free parking available
- RTO up to 6 days allowed excluding holidays; any missed hours must be made up by extending the contract
- First-time travelers may be considered but preference given to those with prior travel experience
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required
- Minimum of 2 years of recent Med/Surg Tele RN experience required
- Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms and provide stroke care required
- Experience with trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain and tube management, and medication gtt management required
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the assignment location
