This locum tenens position involves providing interventional radiology services at a hospital in California, including a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as catheter placements, biopsies, embolizations, and dialysis interventions. The physician will work primarily inpatient and outpatient cases with on-call night and weekend responsibilities, requiring certifications in fluoroscopy, ACLS, and BLS. The role includes performing consults, approving referrals, and collaborating with nursing and technical staff using Epic EMR systems.
Coverage dates: 9/16-9/24, 10/28-11/5, 1/2-1/7 Schedule is 7am to 7am, 24 hour hospital and night call Average of 10 - 12 patients per day Procedures: Cancer, Chronic pelvic pain, PAD, renovascular, UFE, varicose veins, venous disease & filters, vertebroplasty TIPS and Kyphoplasty " required, Catheter placements and exchanges (tunneled and non-tunneled catheters), Drain placements including nephrostomy and biliary tubes, Biopsies (Liver, Lung, Kidney, lymph nodes, etc), Arterial interventions such as gastrointestinal and splenic embolizations and peripheral angioplasty, atherectomy, and stenting, Dialysis interventions (catheter placements, declot, fistulograms), IVC filter placements and removal, Paracentesis and thoracentesis, Gastrostomy tube placements and exchanges, enous interventions such as DVT/PE thrombolysis Daily activities: Weekdays 7:30 am until work is done, usually 6-7 pm. Perform all inpatient and outpatient procedures at the hospital (typically 10-16 per day). Perform inpatient consults and approve outpatient referrals. No diagnostic radiology or clinic responsibilities Weeknights and Weekend: On-call from home or hotel. Overnight emergent cases are not common, i.e. less than 2-3 time per month. Typically perform 3-6 cases over the weekend that cannot wait until Monday (nephrostomy, drain, dialysis access, etc.) Fluoroscopy certificate required ACLS and BLS required Support staff is the hospital nurses and technicians No supervision of APCs is required Epic EMR
