This is a travel registered nurse position specializing in Neuro ICU care at a teaching hospital in Newburgh, Indiana. The role requires strong neuro nursing skills, experience with trauma level II, and proficiency with EPIC charting, working primarily 12-hour night shifts for 13 weeks. The nurse will care for neuro and neuro-surgical patients, participate in holiday and weekend rotations, and may float between campuses within a 40-mile radius.

Neuro Surgical - Nights - Deaconess Gateway **Clinical Interview** NO LOCAL CANIDATES (40 MILE RADIUS RULE)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start: 1/12 - Bi-weekly orientation
Shift Requirement:
12hr Nights 6:30-7**No Blocked Schedule Requests***Weekend Option Available*
Float Requirement:
First to float within skillset. Deaconess Midtown (IN) campus (8 miles apart) & potential to float to Deaconess Henderson (KY 11 miles). 2 HR notice given for cross campus float. Mid-shift float within same campus. Cross campus mid-shift float is unlikely but possible.
On Call/Call Back Requirement: N/A
Weekend/Holiday Requirement: Three weekends out of every six week schedule.Every other holiday.
Required Certs to be attached upon submittal:
Must have current active compact license.
-AHA BLS and NIHSS.
Minimum Experience REQUIRED: Two years of strong Neuro exp, 1 travel assignment, trauma level II experience.
Charting Experience: Recent EPIC experience required (will be required to do a checkoff class)
Patient Population: Neuro and Neuro-Surgical patients CVAs, elective back/neck surgeries, post-op cranis, cerebral angiogram. General medical and psych.
Skillset: NIHSS/dysphagia screen/strong Neuro assessements, basic tele interpretation, strict I s & O s/straight cath/Foleys, intitate/titrate heparin gtts., blood/blood product administration/venipuncture/blood cultures, NG tubes, indwelling drain managemen, stable gtts. (i.e. Protonix, Lasic, etc.). Must have strong assessment and critical thinking skills!
Unit Information: 37 beds. Ratio: Days 1:5-6; NOCs 1:5-7; CN takes partial patient assignment.

GSA hours are not guaranteed the week of Orientation.
Traveler is guaranteed set hours per week, except during holidays where unit is closed
REQUIRED EDUCATION: Associate Degree or Certificate
