The Physician Director will integrate into an important role in providing world class patient care, expanding clinical services, mentoring providers, and elevating patient-centered care across the service line.

Position Responsibilities:
• Diagnose and treat a wide range of cancer and blood disorders while providing exceptional care.
• Lead and mentor a growing team of physicians, APPs, and oncology nurses
• Collaborate with hospital leadership and Duke Cancer Network experts
• Improve or enhance clinic workflows and ensure high-quality, evidence-based care
• Develop and launch new treatment services or community outreach initiatives in partnership with system leadership.
• Engage in strategic planning to expand the oncology service line
Overview:
• Outpatient role
• Standard office hours (Mon-Fri / 8am-5pm)
• Protected administrative time (8+ hours per week)
• Practice Call Schedule: Shared call schedule, 1:4 rotation for patient care needs through telephone calls Äì also supported by after-hours nurse triage.
• Support Staff: The physician will have a team consisting of their own clinic support staff, an APP, and a robust specialized oncology nursing team.
• 4 Physicians and 3 APPs
• EMR: Cerner
Current Patient Volume and Census:
• Average Patient Volume: 15-20 patients per day
• Patient Census: Adult patients with a wide range of cancers and hematologic disorders, from early-stage to advanced.
Visit Types and Procedures:
• 40% Oncology and 60% Hematology
• Visit types: Initial cancer diagnosis, treatment planning, chemotherapy follow-ups, and management of hematologic conditions like anemia and clotting disorders.
• Procedures: Bone marrow biopsies, port insertions, etc.
Facilties and Support:
• Clinic/Facility: 10-chair infusion center, onsite lab and pharmacy, two additional infusion centers on campus (1 general/1 rheumatology)
• Imaging/Diagnostics: PET scanning, 64-slice CT, 3-D mammography, breast MRI, high-
definition endoscopy/bronchoscopy
• Tumor Boards: Bi-weekly for breast, PCC, GI, and ENT
• Surgical Referrals: Includes breast, colorectal, and vascular; Bone marrow transplants referred to Charleston (MUSC or Roper St Francis)
• ACGME Accredited: Medical students, CMC Family Medicine Residency, transitional year, Sports Medicine Fellowship program
• Research & Trials: Currently no active clinical trials; aligned with Duke for access to approximately 450 protocols
• Currently undergoing submission to become accredited by The American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.
Compensation and Benefits:
• Sign-on Bonus: $50k+ sign-on bonus to assist with the transition.

• Base Compensation: 700k+ (flexible/negotiable) + Bonus Potential
