Schedule includes weekday clinic coverage (Mon–Fri, ~8-hour days) with variable-frequency 24-hour call; duties include consults, rounding, outpatient clinic management, dialysis oversight, and Epic documentation. Requires active Tennessee medical license, nephrology board certification, dialysis and Epic experience; locum assignment with travel and malpractice coverage and competitive pay.
One of our Partners is seeking a Board-Certified Nephrology Physician to provide combined inpatient, outpatient, dialysis, and call coverage at an acute care hospital in Maryville, Tennessee. This assignment includes weekday clinic coverage with 24-hour call, compensated under a single daily rate that includes both clinic and call responsibilities, with callback paid separately.
Schedule:
Clinic: Monday-Friday 8 hours/day (flexible start/end)
Call: 24-hour call (frequency varies)
Patient Population: Adults only
Scope: Inpatient & outpatient nephrology; dialysis (hemodialysis and peritoneal)
EMR: Epic
License: Active Tennessee license required (IMLC not accepted)
Pay Ranking:Top 12% nationally for Nephrology locum assignments with call (2025 market data)
Estimated Total Contract Earnings (excluding callback): $400,000
24-hour daily rate includes both clinic and call coverage
Inpatient and outpatient nephrology responsibilities
Dialysis coverage: hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis
No pediatric patients
Epic EMR
All orientation hours are billable
Travel expenses are billable (airfare, lodging, rental car, mileage)
HPA Healthcare is a Joint Commission-certified agency
Malpractice insurance coverage provided
Provide inpatient nephrology consults and rounding
Manage outpatient nephrology clinic patients
Oversee dialysis patients (hemo and peritoneal)
Participate in 24-hour call rotation
Respond to callbacks as clinically indicated
Document all encounters accurately in Epic
Board Certified in Nephrology (required)
Active Tennessee medical license (required)
Dialysis management experience required
Epic EMR experience required
Clean background required
