American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a combined Emergency Room and Med/Surg role in a critical access hospital with night shifts and multiple certifications required.
Responsibilities- Position is in a critical access hospital setting with a combined ER and Med/Surg unit
- Care for med/surg, outpatient, and emergency department patients
- 10 patient rooms with an average patient load of 4 per day
- Nurse to patient ratio typically 1:2 or 1:3, never exceeding 1:6
- Night shifts with 12-hour shifts and every other weekend required
- Travelers float daily between med/surg, outpatient, and ER departments
- Equipment used includes Epic EMR, Philips central monitor/telemetry, and Lifepak 15
- Epic charting experience is preferred
- RNs provide patient care in both the ER and Med/Surg areas and may serve as charge nurse in the ER
- Expect typical RN procedures such as IV starts and catheter care
- Staffing usually consists of 2 RNs plus either a PCT or LPN
- Navy scrubs required
- Orientation can be tailored up to one week and includes both day and night shifts
- All clinicians must badge in and out when at the facility
- RNs must be flexible to float between units as needed
- Local candidates within 80 miles are accepted but subject to an adjusted pay rate
- Applicants with previous Sanford Health employment must have at least a 6-month gap prior to consideration
- Active SD or compact RN license required
- Minimum of 3 years RN experience with at least 2 years in ER and 2 years in Med/Surg
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC
- Critical access hospital experience preferred
- Experience with Epic EMR preferred
