Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele Oncology unit, requiring an active OH or compact RN license and telemetry skills.
Responsibilities
- Work in a hospital-based Med/Surg Tele Oncology unit
- Care for adult and geriatric patients with a focus on solid tumor cancers across all stages
- Patient diagnoses include breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancers, as well as antineoplastic chemotherapy cases
- Staffing ratios typically 1:4, with occasional 1:5 ratios
- Day (7:00–19:30) and night (19:00–7:30) 12-hour shifts available
- Weekend shifts scheduled based on unit needs with no blocked schedules
- Self-scheduling requested, finalized schedule balanced by management
- Epic used for computerized charting
- Floating required to other Med/Surg Oncology units
- First week of orientation is Monday to Friday on dayshift, followed by a second week with 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor
- The unit focuses on infection prevention and patient fall protocols
- Cares for patients with both oncology and general med/surg needs
- Applicants should enter all time off and scheduling requests prior to finalizing the schedule
Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Current BLS certification required
- Ability to interpret and monitor telemetry
- Previous travel experience preferred
- Oncology experience preferred but not required
- ONS Chemo certification preferred
