Job SummaryAbout the Role

The Compost Turner Operator is responsible for operating specialized equipment used in the composting process. This role involves turning and aerating compost windrows to support the breakdown of organic materials into usable soil products. The operator plays a key role in maintaining efficient compost operations while ensuring equipment is operated safely and effectively.

This position is primarily outdoors and requires working with organic materials, heavy equipment, and environmental processes related to recycling food and agricultural waste.

Key Responsibilities

Operate a compost turner machine to turn and aerate compost windrows.Monitor compost piles to help maintain proper airflow, temperature, and moisture levels.Assist with moving and organizing compost materials using loaders, tractors, or other equipment when needed.Perform daily equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance.Maintain the cleanliness and organization of work areas and compost processing sites.Assist with loading finished compost into trucks or designated storage areas.Follow all safety procedures and environmental guidelines while operating equipment.Report any equipment issues, safety concerns, or operational problems to supervisors.Qualifications

Experience operating heavy equipment such as tractors, loaders, or similar machinery preferred.Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.Basic mechanical aptitude for equipment inspections and minor maintenance.Strong attention to safety and detail.Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team.Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.Work Environment

Requisitos Mínimos:

Certificado de la  escuela preparatoria o equivalente.

Experiencia previa operando maquinaria o equipo pesado.

Certificación en compostaje o manejo de residuos.

Responsabilidades:

Operar y mantener la maquinaria de volteo de abono para asegurar el procesamiento eficiente de materiales orgánicos.

Monitorear y ajustar las condiciones de las pilas de abonó, incluyendo temperatura, humedad y aireación, para promover una descomposición efectiva.

Realizar inspecciones regulares del equipo y mantenimiento rutinario para garantizar un rendimiento óptimo y seguro.

Documentar datos operativos y reportar cualquier problema o anomalía al supervisor de manera oportuna.
