American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with WV or compact licensure, BLS, and at least 2-3 years of OR experience for a hospital setting utilizing Epic EMR.
Responsibilities- Work in a 14-suite Main OR within an acute care hospital
- Surgical cases include neuro spine, total joints, open fractures, general, and ENT; open heart excluded; vascular to be added in August
- Average caseload is 28 cases per day with 5 add-ons
- RN to patient ratio is 1:1 in the OR
- Primarily scheduled Monday through Friday, 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Includes rotating call requirements: one weekend day (7 AM-7 PM) per month, one weeknight (7 PM-7 AM), and holiday call as needed
- Block scheduling may be allowed to meet unit needs; no self-scheduling for travelers
- Floating to the outpatient surgery center required as needed
- Scrubs are provided
- Epic EMR is used in the facility
- Responsible for circulating a broad range of surgical cases
- No scrubbing duties required, but experience is a plus
- Charge RN present 7 AM-7 PM and may assist with cases as needed
- On-call response time is 20 minutes; if living further, must remain onsite while on call
- Orientation consists of three shifts specific to the OR floor
- RNs are not required to interpret telemetry strips; this is handled by anesthesia
- Block scheduling may be coordinated to meet unit needs
- No floating outside of the OR except to outpatient surgery
- No local travelers allowed within a 50-mile radius
- Scrubs are provided for all RNs
- Active WV or compact RN license required
- Current certifications in BLS (AHA), ACLS, and PALS required
- Minimum of 2-3 years Operating Room experience required
- At least 2 previous travel assignments preferred
- Experience with ortho and neuro cases preferred
- Must provide an unexpired copy of driver’s license for consideration
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
- Returning RNs must have a 2-year break if previously employed as staff or traveler at any facility in the health system
