Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM with 3x12 schedule (4x12 available upon request)
• 13-52 week assignments available
• Weekend requirement of 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block
• Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
• EPIC charting experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Minimum 1 year of experience required
• Patient ratios typically 1:5 with staffing goal of 1:4
• Floating required within skillset to other PCU or medical-surgical units
• Care for stroke and neurology patients in telemetry PCU setting
• Perform cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
• Provide IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
• Medication administration including cardiac drips (no titration) such as Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low-dose dopamine/dobutamine
• Respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, non-invasive airway management
• Work with remote telemetry monitoring and tele sitting systems
• 32-hour orientation provided
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2-weeks

This large acute care facility features over 700 licensed beds and operates as a Level I Trauma Center with Magnet designation. The hospital is a teaching facility affiliated with a medical school and offers advanced specialty care including bariatric, trauma, and surgical services. The stroke/neuroscience unit is a Joint Commission certified primary stroke center that specializes in caring for stroke and neurology patients as well as general medicine overflow patients.
