American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for the Pediatric ICU with a SC or compact RN license and a minimum of 2 years of PICU experience.
Responsibilities- Position is in a 28-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit within a hospital setting
- Patient population includes children ages 0-18 with medical and surgical diagnoses such as respiratory compromise, trauma, post-operative care, and neurology/neurosurgery cases
- Mixed unit with ICU and stepdown patients; nurse-to-patient ratios vary from 1:1 to 1:3
- Care includes ventilatory and cardiac support, with advanced therapies such as ECMO, CRRT, and dialysis
- Primary shift is 3x12 hours, rotating schedule, with predominantly night shifts (7p-7:30a for two months, 7a-7:30p for one month)
- Weekend requirement is up to 5 shifts for nights (includes Fri/Sat/Sun) and 4 shifts for days (includes Sat/Sun) per schedule
- Holiday coverage required if assignment falls during applicable periods
- Floating within scope is expected based on facility needs
- Uses Epic EMR system
- Will provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients requiring advanced life support and complex therapies
- Team includes RNs, Patient Care Technicians, Unit Secretaries, and access to respiratory therapy, pediatric dietitians, and pharmacists
- Applicants may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June–November)
- All RTO must be submitted at time of application and may be subject to unit approval
- Locals within a 60-mile radius may be considered at a different rate and require approval
- Only one application per facility/unit may be submitted at a time
- Modules must be completed pre-start as part of onboarding
- Active SC or compact RN license is required; license in hand is preferred but pending acceptable with proof of application
- Current AHA BLS and PALS certifications are required
- Minimum 2 years of recent PICU nursing experience
- Experience with ECMO and CRRT is preferred
- Experience with Epic EMR is preferred
- First-time travelers are accepted
- Candidates must provide a Social Security Number and Driver's License for consideration
- Previous permanent (including PRN) staff must be separated from the facility for at least one year prior to applying
