American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg unit in an acute care setting requiring 3 years of MS/Tele experience and current BLS/ACLS certifications.
Responsibilities- Work in an acute care Med/Surg unit with occasional PCU responsibilities based on competency
- Patient population includes medical, surgical, and progressive care patients
- Unit consists of 26 beds with nurse to patient ratios of 1:3-5
- Day shift schedule: 7am-7pm with every other weekend required
- No required floating for RN staff
- No call or standby duties
- Charting with TruBridge - Evident (CPSI)
- Must be able to read and interpret telemetry using Mindray cardiac monitors
- Occasional titration of drips such as insulin, amiodarone, and levofed per multiple protocols
- Required to complete hospital modules prior to working on the floor
- Orientation of 1-2 days with a preceptor, based on individual needs
- Hospital does not have ICU; patients requiring higher level care are transferred
- Nurse aids available with 1:8 ratio for assistance with ADLs, vital signs, and patient transports
- Travelers are rarely asked to act as charge nurse
- May be included in the holiday rotation as needed
- Flexibility in scheduling is requested; block scheduling is not guaranteed
- Navy blue scrubs are required
- Hospital is advancing its capabilities and working towards Level IV trauma status
- Active NM or compact RN license required
- Minimum 3 years of recent MS/Tele experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Strong ability to read and interpret tele strips and manage drips
- MS/Tele experience is mandatory; PCU/Stepdown experience preferred
- Comfortable managing respiratory equipment and continuous bipap/cpap
- First time travelers will be considered
