American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU position on an oncology unit, requiring proficiency with mixed acuity patients and Epic experience.
Responsibilities- Work in a hospital-based oncology unit with 16 inpatient beds
- Mixed acuity setting: Intermediate Care, Telemetry, and MedSurg assignments
- Patient population includes oncology (surgical, new diagnosis, complications), medical overflow, high acuity, and patients receiving prolonged chemotherapy infusions
- RN-to-patient ratio is 1:4 on day and night shifts
- 12-hour day shifts with every other weekend rotation
- Floating required to adult inpatient units within scope such as Med Surg, Ortho/Neuro/Surgical, Heart and Vascular, Oncology, and Observation
- No call required during assignment
- Epic is the required EMR for documentation
- Uses Alaris and Omnicell equipment
- Responsibilities include managing intermediate care and oncology patients, administering chemotherapy (with certification), and monitoring telemetry
- Support team includes 24/7 charge nurse, CNAs, phlebotomy for peripheral draws, and respiratory therapy
- Must achieve 90% compliance on pre/post pain audit scoring
- Initial orientation includes facility orientation, online education, and two unit orientation shifts with a preceptor
- Navy blue scrubs are required
- Free parking is available on site
- Holiday coverage required for two out of four major holidays unless otherwise arranged
- No RTO considered during the first three weeks of August each year
- Active RN license through the South Dakota Board of Nursing or compact equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of general nursing experience
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Epic EMR experience required
- IMC/PCU level experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with titratable vasoactive drips, and chest ports proficiency required
- Comfortable with MedSurg assignments
- ONS Chemotherapy certification preferred; required if administering chemotherapy
- Candidates must live at least 100 miles from any Monument Health facility
- Permanent staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler
- First-time travelers accepted if meeting the experience and EMR requirements
