This locum tenens position involves providing orthopedic surgical consultations and examinations without performing surgeries, primarily in outpatient medical facilities across multiple New York locations. The orthopedic surgeon will evaluate patient cases, determine surgery necessity, and assess eligibility for workers' compensation, working largely independently with front office support. The role includes occasional phone depositions post-examination and requires board certification, New York licensure, and workers' compensation authorization.
Specialty-Orthopedic Surgeon a) Consultations/Exams NO SURGERYS Coverage needs: -Start: As soon as credentialed -End: OngoingShifts: -Brooklyn (2 times per month) -Queens (2 times per month) -Manhattan (1 time per month) -Bronx (3 times per month) -Plainview (2 times per month) -Ronkonkoma (2-3 times per month) -Typically start by 9:30 or 10 am; end between 4 and 5 pmSetting: -Outpatient medical exam facility-Ages: Predominantly adults a) If a minor does come in they would be accompanied by a guardian or legal representative-Patients per day: 18-22 Support Staff: -The provider would be working as the sole provider with assistance from a front office staffCases: -The provider will be evaluating patients on if surgery is needed, if they qualify for workers compensation, etc. -All consultations/exams no surgery-There will be phone depositions at some point after the exam is given, but this may take a few months before the depositions begin. a) Each deposition typically takes 10-15 minutesEMR: -Paper charting, transcriptions, and DropboxTravel: -Client is NOT budgeted for any expenses Credentialing timeline:-2 to 3 monthsRequirements:-Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon-NY License-Workers compensation license/authorization (this can be obtained during the credentialing process)
