American Traveler is seeking an experienced PICU RN with two years of recent pediatric ICU and travel experience, holding an NM or compact RN license.
Responsibilities- Work in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit within a hospital setting
- Patient population includes critically ill pediatric patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:3 depending on patient status
- Must be able to float between departments or local locations within 20 miles
- 12-hour night shifts with weekend and on-call coverage as needed by the unit
- Epic EMR is used; experience is preferred but not required
- Responsibilities include direct patient care, assessment, care planning, implementation, documentation, and coordination with families and healthcare team
- Must be flexible, team-oriented, and able to adapt to a fast-paced environment
- Float requirements extend within a 20-mile radius
- Holiday coverage is required as scheduled by the unit
- Previous permanent hospital staff must wait one year before being eligible for traveler positions
- First-time travelers are not eligible; prior travel experience is required
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
- Active RN license in New Mexico or a compact state
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications, completed through AHA, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross
- Minimum of two years of recent experience in a 12-plus bed Pediatric ICU required
- Previous completion of at least one 13-week travel assignment in a pediatric setting
- Pediatric CVICU experience is a plus
- Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required
- Must pass onsite Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia Testing during orientation; one retake allowed
