Responsibilities and Duties
- Perform esophageal dilatation and manometry
- Interpret esophageal manometry studies
- Conduct small bowel biopsies
- Perform lower GI endoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, and colonoscopy
- Conduct liver biopsies
- Insert and manage Sengstaken/Blakemore tubes
- Perform endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)
- Conduct upper GI endoscopy: biopsy, foreign body removal, fulguration of bleeder (cautery or laser), injection and banding of varices, and ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio Pancreatography)
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including PEG (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy)
Additional Information
- Board certification in Gastroenterology required
- VA medical license required
- Flu shot required; COVID vaccine highly preferred
- Must be available to cover open shifts to be considered
- Clean malpractice history required for temporary privileges
- Proficiency in ERCP required; EUS preferred
