Position Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering safe, high-quality patient care in the Emergency Department using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN provides direct patient care within scope of practice and is accountable for patient outcomes in a fast-paced ER environment.
The RN collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary teams, communicates changes in patient condition, responds rapidly to emergencies, and ensures compliance with EMTALA regulations and reporting requirements. The RN maintains patient privacy and confidentiality at all times and may float to units within their competency.
Required Qualifications & Credentials
- Current and valid California RN License
- BLS (AHA or Red Cross)
- ACLS (AHA or Red Cross)
- PALS (AHA or Red Cross)
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a staff RN in an acute care hospital, specifically in the Emergency Department
- Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) Certificate
- Experience with Meditech EMR
- Ability to float to units of competency
Preferred Qualifications
- COVID-19 vaccination (preferred)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to emergency department patients
- Monitor patient conditions and respond quickly to clinical changes
- Communicate effectively with physicians regarding diagnostics and treatment responses
- Ensure compliance with EMTALA regulations
- Report suspected child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and hospital social workers
- Educate patients and families and guide ancillary nursing staff
- Maintain professional nursing standards and patient confidentiality
