American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-acuity Labor & Delivery position requiring 3-5 years of high risk L&D experience and the ability to circulate and provide newborn care.
Responsibilities- Work in a high-volume Labor & Delivery unit within a hospital setting
- Unit supports midwifery clients, private OBs, adult recovery services, and community care clinics
- Handles high risk and high acuity L&D cases with 500-600 deliveries per month
- Unit features 31 beds and 4 ORs
- Responsibilities include circulating and Baby Nurse roles during delivery and immediate newborn care
- Care for postpartum and antepartum patients as required
- Floating required to Postpartum, Antepartum, and sister Mother/Baby units
- Epic EMR experience required
- Schedule consists of 3x12 hour day shifts from 7:00 to 19:30, posted every 6 weeks to meet unit needs
- Expected to work every other weekend and holidays as needed
- Duties include functioning as Baby Nurse during deliveries and providing newborn care until transfer to postpartum
- Must be able to circulate during deliveries as a hard requirement
- Expected to administer medications including heparin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate as necessary
- Staffing and coverage follows AWHONN guidelines
- All travelers are expected to float between facilities within the state as needed
- Minimal to no RTO is permitted and must be requested during initial consideration
- Holiday and every other weekend coverage required according to unit needs
- Preference for candidates with 5 years of high risk L&D experience, but those with 3+ years will be considered if high risk experience is present
- Active WA or compact RN license in hand
- 3-5 years of recent high acuity and high risk Labor & Delivery experience required
- Previous circulating and newborn care experience required, including eye care, Vitamin K injection, and newborn assessment
- BLS and NRP certifications required
- Supervisory references required from within the last three years in a comparable specialty or setting
- Proof of all required certifications must be provided
- Must be able to pass a clinical review
- Epic EMR experience required
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this assignment
- Applicants who were previous permanent employees at Swedish facilities must have been separated for at least 3 months and live more than 50 miles away
