This role is for a Trauma and Acute Care Surgery Physician at a Level I Trauma Center in Southern California, providing emergency surgical care and managing critically ill patients. The physician will perform emergency general surgery procedures, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and participate in quality improvement initiatives. Board certification and specialized training in surgical critical care or trauma surgery are required, along with active medical licensure and relevant certifications.
We are seeking anexperienced Trauma and Acute Care Surgery Physician to join a leading hospitalin Southern California. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a Level ITrauma Center that provides advanced surgical care to a diverse patientpopulation while collaborating with a skilled, multidisciplinary team.
Compensation: $500,000
Position Details:
- Setting: Inpatient / Hospital-based - Trauma and Acute Care Surgery Service
- Schedule: Flexible schedule with 24-hour in-house call and rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed
- Shift Commitment: 11 shifts per month
- Trauma Level: I (some facilities may include Level I exposure)
- Coverage Type: Trauma, Emergency General Surgery (EGS), and Surgical Critical Care
Responsibilities:
- Provide trauma resuscitation and surgical management for emergent and urgent cases
- Perform emergency general surgery procedures, including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, bowel resection, hernia repair, and other acute surgical interventions
- Manage critically ill and postoperative patients in the ICU
- Collaborate with trauma, emergency medicine, orthopedic, neurosurgery, and critical care teams to ensure high-quality, coordinated patient care
- Participate in trauma performance improvement programs and quality initiatives
Qualifications:
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery
- Fellowship-trained in Surgical Critical Care or Trauma Surgery
- Active California Medical License (or ability to obtain)
- ATLS Certification
- BLS and ACLS Certifications
- Must have SCC boards
- Leadership Experience highly preferred
