- Experience: Must have worked in a Level I or Level II trauma center and hospitals with 300+ beds.
- Unit: ICU – 2nd floor (mostly MICU, some SICU).
- Beds: 16
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:2
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy, Prismaflex)
- Rotaprone therapy
- TTM (Targeted Temperature Management) – Arctic Sun
- Mass transfusions / MTP (Massive Transfusion Protocol)
- Train of 4 monitoring, frequent paralysis
- ECMO occasionally
- 24-hour EEG monitoring
- EVD (External Ventricular Drain), LP drain
- Neurosurgery patients
- Trauma patients (drownings, tractor rollovers, fractures, MVAs, spinal injuries)
- Sepsis, DKA, post-surgical recovery, post-heart cath (sometimes pulling sheaths)
- COVID patients
- Organ recovery (procurement only, no transplants done here)
- Prefer experience pulling sheaths
- CRRT experience highly preferred
- Must have Level II trauma experience or above
- RNs required to titrate drips
Common titratable ICU drips:
- Precedex
- Pressors
- Anti-arrhythmics
- Sedation
- Common ICU drips
Bedside procedures:
- Trachs, chest tube insertion, bronchoscopy assistance, arterial line insertion
- Charge Nurse / House Supervisor:
- Day shift usually functions as a senior staff nurse
- Night shift may act as house supervisor but takes a smaller assignment to assist staff
