The 2nd shift Quality Technician inspects precision-machined components, operates coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), and interprets complex engineering blueprints with GD&T specifications. This role requires hands-on experience with various precision inspection tools and software such as Calypso, ensuring product quality and compliance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The technician also supports machinists, maintains inspection equipment, and documents quality data to promote continuous improvement.

QPS Employment Group is seeking a skilled, hands-on Quality Technician to join a dynamic manufacturing team in Elkhorn, WI. If you’re detail-driven, collaborative, and ready for a role where your accuracy truly matters, this could be a great fit.
Quality Technician Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Perform receiving, first-piece, in-process, and final inspections on precision-machined components
- Master a full range of precision hand tools: micrometers (to 0.0001”), bore gauges, thread gauges, profilometers, optical comparators, height stands, pin and plug gauges, etc.
- Accurately interpret complex blueprints, including advanced GD&T callouts (position, profile, true position with MMC/LMC, composite tolerances, etc.)
- Operate CMMs using software such as Calypso; ability to create, edit, and prove-out new programs preferred
- Calibrate and maintain gauges and inspection equipment
- Document quality data accurately for reporting and continuous improvement
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Provide guidance and support to machinists as needed
- Adjust work priorities flexibly and assist across shifts to meet operational demands
- Accurately read engineering drawings, part specifications, and GD&T
- Use inspection tools effectively to verify part conformity
- Strong working knowledge of Calypso; ability to write and troubleshoot programs is a plus
- Provide clear, constructive feedback to machinists and leads
- Manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining attention to detail
Quality Technician Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on inspection experience in a precision CNC machining environment
- Hands-on experience operating and programming CMMs, or willingness to cross-train quickly
- Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating effectively in English
- Skilled in documenting production data and quality metrics accurately using appropriate reporting tools or systems
- Preferred 4+ years of inspection experience and formal Calypso programming training
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds as part of regular duties
- Perform repetitive tasks with attention to detail and consistency
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Normal or corrected vision sufficient to read fine print and inspect at 0.0001 increments
- Independently work with a focus on preventing defective parts from shipping
