Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide direct primary care (50%-60% clinical time) including diagnosis, treatment, preventive care, chronic disease management, lab and radiology interpretation, and referrals
- Supervise and mentor 2-4 Nurse Practitioners, offering clinical guidance, chart reviews, case consultation, peer review, and feedback
- Act as preceptor for new Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants, overseeing onboarding and performance evaluation
- Design, implement, and monitor clinical quality improvement activities such as peer review, chart audits, and QA/CQI programs
- Maintain and update clinical policies, procedures, and protocols in alignment with tribal, state, and federal regulations
- Participate in strategic planning, program expansion, and grant development or reporting
- Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and credentialing of new clinical staff; manage provider scheduling, supervision, and performance appraisals
- Ensure compliance with tribal, state, federal, and accreditation requirements; lead in accreditation preparation processes
- Act as clinic liaison with external partners including local hospitals, health departments, tribal council, and grant agencies
- Provide comprehensive clinical care at a primary care level with a multidisciplinary approach
- Develop and implement standards of care, standing orders, and policies to ensure efficient, safe, and cost-effective practice
- Collaborate with staff to develop educational programs for the practice
- Participate in committees and staff meetings to promote integrated clinical practice and optimal patient flow
- Oversee vaccines for children program, lab services, and maintenance of CLIA certification
Additional Information
- Tribal health experience highly desired; preference given to candidates with this background
- Experience supervising Nurse Practitioners required; prior medical director experience is a plus
- Must have outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Strong time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and RPMS software is essential
- Required certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and DEA
- Board Certification in Family Medicine required
- Experience serving underserved populations is strongly preferred
