This role is for a Hospitalist Physician at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in West Virginia providing inpatient internal medicine care to adult patients. The physician must have an MD or DO, be board certified or eligible in Internal Medicine, and may provide care via telehealth as needed, with shifts covering days, evenings, nights, and weekends.

This is a rewarding opportunity to serve those who have served our country, within a collaborative and mission-driven environment.Key Responsibilities:Provide inpatient internal medicine services to adult patients in an acute care setting.Manage admissions, discharges, and daily rounding of patients.Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including nursing, case management, and specialists, to optimize patient care.Supervise and teach medical students, residents, and/or mid-level providers as applicable.Participate in quality improvement initiatives, morbidity and mortality reviews, and patient safety programs.Ensure compliance with VA policies, documentation standards, and national guidelines.Provide care via telehealth or virtual platforms as needed.Participate in night, weekend, and holiday coverage as part of the shared call rotation.Work Schedule:7:00am to 7:00pm and/or 7:00pm to 7:00am, Wednesday through Tuesday.Typical shift: 12 hours, including day, evening, or night rotation.No outpatient responsibilities.Qualifications:U.S. Citizenship (Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens)MD or DO degree from an accredited institutionCompletion of an ACGME or AOA-accredited residency in Internal MedicineBoard Certified or Board Eligible in Internal MedicineUnrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territoryStrong clinical and diagnostic skillsCommitment to patient-centered care and the VA missionPreferred Qualifications:Experience in inpatient hospitalist medicineFamiliarity with VA systems and EMR (CPRS/Vista preferred)Experience with academic teaching or supervision
